Clinical Microbiologist

Job Description

• To know and implement the Quality Management system of the organization.
• To work in different shifts and on public holidays and Sundays as per duty roster.
• To know all relevant Standard Operating Procedures.
• To follow the process flow in Microbiology & S
• To maintain all relevant logs (eg: Patient information, work book, temp. charts, Quality Control, equipment maintenance etc).
• To ensure proper collection, storage and transport of samples. To Co-ordinate with other departments for shared samples.
• To process all clinical specimens (Microbiology and Serology as per standard operating procedure).
• To ensure that all completed sample reports are given for Data Entry.
• To report critical values in absence of Department HOD.
• To know operation and maintenance of all equipment's in the section.
• To prepare in-house media.
• To do internal Quality control as per departmental protocol.
• To maintain Quality and Technical records.
• To check for expired reagents/kits.
• To receive Lab supplies.
• To send samples and receive results from referral labs.
• To decontaminate and dispose Bio-waste as per regulations.
• To consult Department HOD when in doubt, regarding results, patient enquiries or any other departmental matters.
• To do any other job assigned by the Department HOD from time to time.Roles and Responsibilities
