Staff Nurse

• Acts as a Liaison between physician, patient/family and assigned nurses
• Attends to the patient from admission till discharge ( in their assigned specialty)
• Acts as the continuous link from Day one till discharge
• Guides assigned nurses in specialty specific interventions
• Responsible for ensuring completion of doctors advice in time
• Tracks deviations and works with physician for early intervention
• As they work in close collaboration with Staff Nurses, they act as role models and a trouble shooter for clinical issues
• Available on phone for patients and relatives for any medical problems
• Assists in developing care plans
• Participates in nursing and clinical audits
• Does post discharge follow up as required
• Response to patient problems if all doctors are busy
• Responsible for initiation of timely treatment for all new admissions in their speciality performing histories and physicals, ordering labs, and ordering diagnostic procedures.
• Aware of all special protocols on their Speciality in ward as well as ICU
• Completes special assignments from NS for continuous quality improvement
• To assess & identify any learning need of staff in her area and then plan with nursing educator to organize and execute retraining for them.
• To give incidental teachings & demonstrate skills whenever appropriate.
• To coordinate with education department for In-service education of nursing staff as and when require
• Responsibility for innovation and change in the patient care system.
