Job Description

- Functions as Nurse Educator and Infection Control Nurse for assigned Centre, to ensure optimal patient care outcomes. \n
- Coordinates and assesses educational development and clinical competency of the staffs in the field of Nursing and Infection Control and ensures continued competency through educational programs for both newly hired and experienced staffs as per KC Values and Vision. \n
- Instructs, demonstrates and supervises staffs in principles and application of maternity and neonatal nursing as per the Clinical Care Levels. \n
- Assesses the staffs specialty-specific procedural competencies. \n
- Administers Objectively Structured Clinical Examination and evaluates staffs progress, and maintains records of classroom and clinical experience. \n
- Demonstrates a balance between theoretical knowledge and clinical application. \n
- Provides expertise, developing prevention strategies and protocols to improve patient and employees outcomes. \n
- Leads Nurses to think outside the box”, to try new ways through evidenced based practice to enhance and improve patient outcomes. \n
- Guides the development of consistent and constant standards of practice of Nursing and Infection Control, ensures that the customers and employees get highest level of care. \n
- Takes up CNE program in the absence of the Nursing Superintend. \n
- Coordinates with Manger- Nursing care and participates in planning and preparation of monthly teaching calendar as per the need of the Unit. \n
- Conducts departmental education and adapt teaching styles to meet the needs of the particular department. \n
- Conducts Nursing Audits to improve the clinical skills of the staffs and quality. \n
- Serves as a resource for staffs during their tenure in KC. \n
- Mentors the fresher’s/ new joiners and orient them to the policies and protocols of KC \n
- Operates a variety of standard medical equipment and updates time to time. \n
- Keep abreast of developments in maternity and neonatal nursing by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences. \n
- Participates in staff recruitment and placement activities. \n
- Communicates with Nursing Coordinator regarding staff performance issue. \n
- Troubleshoots complex patient care issues and mentors the staffs for the same. \n
- Collaborates with the consultants to update clinical guidelines, procedures and policies. \n
- Participates in Quality and Interdepartmental meetings wherever is required. \n
- Obtains reviews and analyzes information in collaboration with the patient, family, significant other as related to educational needs. \n
- Provides community education services as necessary. \n
- Plans for personal growth as related to goals based on self-assessment, evaluation and feedback. \n
- Provides consultation to internal customers (e.g. staff and physicians) and external (e.g. patients/significant others and other medical facilities). \n
- Assists in the development of nurses’ advocacy and moral KC through role modeling, teaching and/or coaching. \n
- Serves as an agent for professional nursing educational issues. \n
- Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements. \n
