Job Details
  • To be responsible for adequate well trained staff available for the laboratory functions in all departments based on the scope of tests, complexity of tests and volume of work in the department
  • To guide the staff in trouble shooting in case of Instrument breakdown
  • To ensure that expired material is not in stock or in use.
  • To ensure all department staff has adequate resources to perform various aspects of work required
  • To identify need for adding new tests in scope
  • To actively participate in monthly QC review, internal audits & external audits
  • To manage daily (including Sunday) staff roster
  • To handle difficult blood collections and front office queries regarding tests
  • To check overall QC review, trouble shooting, root cause analysis, CA, PA
  • To follow-up on STAT reporting of all departments
  • To provide backup support in Phlebotomy, Accession and First Review of results
  • To check critical value reporting and documentation
  • To check daily on pending list
  • To monitor TAT
  • To monitor error logs with CA/PA
  • To ensure timely delivery of reports to other locations e.g. Pune Centre
  • To work in a shift that ensures smooth start of day and end of day process
  • To work towards team development and to train and develop a second line who can take over Lab Managers tasks in his/her absence
  • To ensure all documents and records (e.g. Instrument IQ/OQ/PQ) are maintained & updated on real time basis
  • To Comply with laboratory safety procedures
  • To possess adequate knowledge of instrumentation, theory and application of new and existing tests
  • To ensure all department staff is adequately trained to safely perform all required job functions & competency records are maintained
  • To investigates & resolves technical problems
  • To recommends measure to improve testing procedures, use of equipment and needs for new equipment
  • To co-ordinate with engineers for equipment maintenance (PM & calibration) & trouble shoot minor malfunctioning of instruments
  • To conducts research to develop custom procedures as needed, working in conjunction with chief pathologist
  • To review material cost
  • To check number of tests outsourced and cost involved
  • To check cost to lab for new tests added v/s cost when outsourced
  • To check repeats or rerun costs
