General Summary:
- Explore new Ray Tracing features in GPU, including but not limited to Acceleration structures, Efficient tree building, Denoising, Traversal. Exploration tasks could include literature survey, implementation, research on short comings and propose new changes that benefit GPU power, performance or functionality.
- Architects, designs, implements, verifies, and optimizes various performance and power features of GPU cores.
- Responsible for building functional modeling simulations, developing software, tools, and tests for ray tracing graphics, running benchmarks for different applications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of relevant GPU experience (either external or internal).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works with team members to understand and align on narrow scope of feature development and meet targets.
• Self driven to explore the literature and other resources to find the latest developments in the industry/academia to find the best and optimum solution.
• Assists with developing small, well-defined features and applications that meet design requirements.
• Programs and runs graphics tests using tools and methods under guidance for specific, well-defined components to assess functionality, performance, and power.
• Helps analyze test results using straightforward statistics and data predictions to track benchmarks and identify issues.
• Works with internal or external users under guidance to assist with implementation.
• Builds understanding of one's technical domain to ensure integration with other components in the domain.
• Writes technical documentation and feature descriptions for straightforward projects under the direction of a supervisor.
Level of Responsibility:
• Working under close supervision.
• Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with limited impact; impact of decisions is readily apparent; errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct).
• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.
• Working within prescribed budget and resources.
• Completing some tasks with multiple steps which must be performed in a specific order; directions or manuals can accurately document the steps necessary to perform the task.
• Exercising some creativity to troubleshoot technical problems or deal with novel circumstances.
• Using deductive problem solving to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required. The responsibilities of this role do not include:
• Providing supervision/guidance to others.
• Influence over key organizational decisions.
• Role in strategic planning.
