ESI Corporation is a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India. It administers the ESI Scheme in India.In West Bengal, the ESI Scheme was first implemented on in Kolkata. As on date, out of 23 districts in West Bengal, ESI Scheme is fully implemented in 16 districts and partially implemented in 2 districts (Coochbehar, Darjeeling). The non-implemented districts in West Bengal include Purulia, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, Alipurduar and Kalimpong.
