In 1961, a factory that manufactured industrial rubber products branded HARTEX was set up in the SSI Unit at Howrah (West Bengal) in the name of Kemrub Private Limited. By 1969, the facility was restructured to focus on bicycle tubes, given the vast scope in the Indian marketplace.
