Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Development team in Kochi, India.
You will contribute to the full lifecycle for new features beginning from the ideation and design process over taking responsibility for the implementation in both frontend and backend until it is rolled out to our beloved customers.
On the frontend side, you will work on a React based UI which is tuned for high performance using a modern reactive approach. We expect experience with UI Design best practices, a good understanding of SPA architecture and best practices in implementing reusable UI components.
On the Backend side, you will work on a Java application (Dropwizard) and different distributed data stores (Cockroachdb, Kafka).
Moreover, you will come across a wide range of technologies, like infrastructure and Cloud platforms (Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, IBM Cloud, and others), tracing and instrumentation and data science.
You are proficient in Java and its ecosystem and have first-hand experience of troubleshooting production issues, because this will help you understand the type of problems Instana is solving for our customers. Furthermore, you should be open to learning new technologies and willing to get your hands dirty across the entire software stack.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Understand application storyboards and use cases to be able to develop product features
- Be able to troubleshoot bottlenecks and defects and arrive at solutions to these problems
- Help maintain code quality, organization and modularity by following sound development practices and IBM Security design standards
- Understanding user needs, and exploring user-centered designs
- Specifying, building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting your code
- Leveraging modern tools and techniques to develop clean, efficient, and reusable code
- Advocating front-end and backend development best practices
• Implementing features around Instana’s core product
• You will interface with senior architects across several locations to ensure that the overall strategy is communicated and understood.”
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 9-12 years of relevant industry experience
- 9+ years of strong Java programming experience
- 3 years of experience with Kubernetes and associated container and orchestration technologies.
- HTML/CSS experience, ideally including concepts like modularization, layouting and accessibility
- Understanding of Kanban
- Good design and code writing discipline and an eye for code efficiency
- Skills with React, Redux, Node.JS, JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML, CSS
- Agile and Scrum development methodologies
- Software development using Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
- Mentoring team members.
Qualification:
BS or higher in Computer Science or related field
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- A solid base of programming languages is required. Languages and technologies include Go, Java, Python or other scripting languages are useful, as well as Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and others with a strong working knowledge of OpenShift
- 2+ years of experience in one of the following would be an added advantage:
- Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Re-architecting legacy applications to microservices
Preferred Certifications/Badges (Good to have):
- Cloud certifications: AWS, Azure, GCP
- DevOps experience
- Experience with K8s
- Experience with Linux systems
- Experience with Machine Learning solutions
