Azure CHIE’s (Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering) Platform Firmware Engineering team is responsible for definition, design, and development of Server and Rack Infrastructure firmware that manages Microsoft’s Data-Center / cloud hardware. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for our cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership (TCO).

We are seeking a highly motivated Firmware/Embedded Software Engineer with a solid background in embedded system design. You will be involved with all phases of product development from design through bring-up, development, release and deployment. We are aspiring to get agile where you will play a key role in designing, developing, optimizing, deploying and maintaining innovative features.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and document key features for resource-constrained embedded systems
  • Enable and implement UEFI features to advance security, reliability, availability and serviceability
  • Debug across HW, FW and SW stacks and skilled at using SW and HW debugging tools
  • Work across multiple disciplines and functions to drive platform innovation such as Azure engineering groups, HW, validation, ISV.
  • Work effectively in an Agile environment following and practicing Scrum processes
  • Work with Server ODMs and OEMs to enable exciting firmware features during early bring-up phases
  • Troubleshoot and debug using tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and bus analyzers.

Qualifications

Join the Azure CHIE Firmware team for spearheading UEFI value addition in Cloud.

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in UEFI FW development, BIOS experience
  • Proficient C/C++ design and coding skills
  • Excellent debugging skills using tools such as JTAG, ITP etc.
  • A high tolerance for ambiguity and change
  • Excellent written and oral communications
